claire lenahan

Claire's pieces are elegantly formed with an abstract nature for every design. She works out of creativity and instinct letting the clay mold to her rather than letting pre-conscientiousness hinder.

The functionality of her work also brings a versatile yet explorative view of the artist's eye as experimentation combined with organic influences encompass this unique style of pottery.

"Lately I’ve been dabbling in a lot of things. Public events, social media, printmaking, watercolors, outdoor exploring, reading, carving, sketching, sewing, and more….sometimes these things can feel very disconnected and even dissonant if I allow them to just “be”. It has been and always will be in my  nature to collect my experiences and make something out of them because it will also always be in my nature to try to do many things at once and this is the only way I can make sense of those things."

Expressionistic brushstrokes and bold marks engage the viewer while bright, captivating colors leave one with a sense of wonderment. Janet's paintings are not only enigmatic, they're sometimes mystifying with a perplexity of the abstract that is almost real.

Janet received her Masters in Fine Art at

Appalachian State University and currently

resides in Charlotte, NC.
